Cloud Computing (Research Paper Sample) Content: Cloud ComputingStudents NameInstitutional AffiliationCloud ComputingCloud computing is a relatively new practice in business. It entails storage, processing and retrieval of data on remote servers as opposed to local servers. The remote servers are accessed through the internet as opposed to the intranet that is used to access local servers. Conversely, web 2.0 is a change in the access and usage of the World Wide Web from the static usage that characterized the earlier models of access to dynamic usage that allows users to make changes on websites. Web 2.0 enabled the rise of social media by creating interactive platforms and is used on business websites to collect feedback from clients. Cloud computing and web 2.0 are very important tools for contemporary business organizations. Due to the increasing demand for secure storage and the ability of the internet to provide these storage facilities at subsidized rates, organizations use cloud computing for storage of info rmation. The low costs of internet access and the increased speeds of access have also contributed to the increased application of cloud computing in organizations (Governor Hinchcliffe, 2009). For example, due to the high memory capacity of online storage, they are often cheaper to use because they do not require maintenance costs from the business. In addition, cloud computing is useful in cases where an organization has many subsidiaries. For example, if a business has branches in many different cities, using cloud computing allows all branches of the organization to have a central data management system (Bean, 2009). Therefore, cloud computing is not exclusively a domain of internet service providers. In many cases, an organization has central servers that are accessible to all the different branches of the organization in different places. Usage of cloud computing therefore enables creation of central information management systems, while at the same time lowering the costs of installing servers (Bean, 2009). Web 2.0 is used to gather and disseminate information. For example, social media platforms are increasingly becoming popular among business owners (Governor Hinchcliffe, 2009). These platforms connect the workers of an organization internally and also create platforms for external contact. They create a sense of unity by embracing an element of social life and integrating it with the professional life. In addition, web 2.0 has business applications. For example, websites now have the ability to receive feedback from the visitors (Bean, 2009). There are platforms that connect the comments to social media platforms and therefore leave the identity of the commenting party as well as a way to get back to the clients. The feedback is important because it fosters improvement of services and tailoring of service delivery to the specific needs of the business clientele (Bean, 2009). Therefore, organizations use web 2.0 as an advertising platform that has t he benefit of providing client feedback. These tools have minimum technological requirements of the organizations. For example, most browsers were updated to keep up with the inception of web 2.0. For example, most browsers have the capacity to access social media (Governor Hinchcliffe, 2009). On the part of cloud computing, the requirement is a working internet connection and good access points. The speed requirements of the internet connection are determined by the needs of the cloud computing. For example, if an organization has many employees who require the information in the cloud computing platforms, there is a need for fast internet connectivity such as the services provided by the optic-fiber connectivity (Bean, 2009). Software requirements are also very important. The internet is not secure because of the incidence of web terrorism. Therefore, usage of web 2.0 requires working firewalls and antivirus programs and access protocols that limits that nature of access. In the event where the cloud computing services are provided by an external party, the service provider will usually provide the access software and security measures (Bean, 2009). BenefitsCloud computing offers mass storage and backup at low prices. Storage on cloud computing platforms offers an organization cheap backup and security that would be hard to get on the other platforms. In addition, the ability of cloud computing platforms to enable organizations to have central data systems is a big benefit. The centralization of data storage and processing makes the process of management easier and united different factions of the same management (Bean, 2009).Web 2.0 offers organizations a platform to post free advertisements and to interact with clients (Governor Hinchcliffe, 2009). Dover Beach Essay Example For Students

Dover Beach Essay Dover Beach by Mathew Arnold is a rational poem. Arnold uses an assortment of literary methods such as, visual and aural imagery, rhythm, figure of speech paradox, symbolism, and metric schemes. Each mechanism is used in an exclusive way, supporting the marvelous theme behind the poem. Arnold articulates the idea behind the poem with the use of three literary methods, aural and visual imagery and metrics. Thus, we get acquainted with the passion, thoughts and atmospheres behind the concept of Love, which is an influential and sensitive subject. The aural imagery emphasizes the visual imagery alongside the metric scheme supplying the authenticity and vision behind the meaning of Love. First, we can see the visual imagery comprise metaphor, paradox and character. Second, the aural imagery encloses alliteration, assonance and a specific rhyme scheme. Third, the metrical scheme can be seen with quite a few rhythmical beats. The poem consists of 37 lines which are split into 4 stanzas; each stanza having a different amount of lines. Every line contains its exclusive pragmatic eccentricity that substantially mirrors the accuracy of the main theme. Several qualities of visual imagery are recognized, such as metaphor, paradox and character. Arnold has the metaphor of the sea with the intention of conveying his manner of love to the one he loves. For example, the sea is powerfully seen in the first lines of the first stanza, thus we see The sea is calm The tide is full, the moon lies fair. The sea is primarily the touching visual image namely used in a replacement for the word Love. Love can be the sea, which can be calm and quiet in addition to being beautiful. Arnold uses images such as sea, calm, full, gleams, glimmering, tranquil, sweet, faith, bright, naked, beautiful, joy, love, certitude, peace, pain, night which can all be connected with the emotion of love, the vivid and mysteriousness behind love. Second, perceptibly is the paradox of Dover Beach by the different fundamentals of the poet writing about the calm sea along with the peaceful and fair moon? The paradox is the major scheme behind the poem. For example, the al terations of the sea and the lighting imply the changes in a humans love feeling. We can see how the sea is calm but is destroyed by a grating roar meaning, love can be filled of joy as well as sorrow. In the second stanza we see images such as turbid ebb and flow human misery and the third stanza shows a sagacity of hope and assurance with images such as round earths shore, withdrawing roar, night wind and naked shingles highlighting the sense of false impression vs. certainty, love can be beautiful but can can ramble into feeling lost in faith and hope. The final stanza recuperates its faith in love which has been lost Ah, love, let us be true. The symbols of the sea of faith suggest the sensitivity of the Arnolds faith. Quite a few examples of aural imagery  can be seen. The poem goes from visual to aural imagery throughout the poem, producing the uncertainty of the false impression and actuality behind our thoughts of love. The aural and visual imagery combine as one. Arnold tried to show the assorted distinctiveness behind love. We hear the waves and see them with a dominant sight and sound. In the poem the alliteration, assonance and end rhyme have no stability. Yet, it may suggest that love is this way as well. Yet we can see that the iambic meter is most dominant.

Windows 95 the O/S of the Future Essay Example For Students

Windows 95 the O/S of the Future Essay The way of the computing world is changing at a neck breaking pace. People arelooking for computers to be easy to use, and to make life easier for them. Thecomputer manufactures and software developers have started to tailor computersand programs to fit the needs of the new computer age. Graphical InterfaceSoftware (GUI) began to make computing easier and people who never dreamed ofowning computers began to buy them. Macintosh was one of the first GUIcomputers to hit the market, but it was not IBM compatible, so it did not takeover the mainstream of the computer industry. Since most computers where beingmake to fit the IBM compatible standards, Microsoft saw the need to replace DOS(Disk Operating System) with something easier to use. That is when theydeveloped Windows, which covered the difficult to use DOS with a new face thatmade computing easier. The first Windows was a start in the right direction. Inan effort to make computing meet the needs of the public, Microsoft developedWin dows 95. Windows 95 has the appearance of being a completely user friendly operatingsystem and it pretty much is as far as the average user is concerned. Thecompatibility with most hardware makes it easy for someone to upgrade theircomputer. The desktop is designed so the user has point and click access to alltheir open and closed programs. Utilizing the 32 bit programing it was writtenwith, users are able to work with more than one program at a time and moveinformation between programs. This gives the user the freedom they need tobegin to explore the world of computing without having to learn all the computer stuff. Today everyone wants the fastest computer with the best monitor and fastestmodem this was an interrupt address nightmare until Windows 95 was developed. People didnt know what jumpers needed to go where to make their hardware work. Or why their CDROM wouldnt work since they changed their sound board. Mosthardware periphials have all the configurations built into a chip thatcommunicates with Windows 95 to find out where it needs to put itself in theaddress map. This allows users to have fancy big screen monitors and connect tothe Internet with high speed modems. They can also put in faster video cardsthat use all the nice Windows 95 features, thus making their computing lesscomplicated Windows 95 is set up with novice users in mind. As with Windows 3.x,it has boxes that open up with the program inside called windows. These windowsare used to make computing more exciting for the user. No one wants to look ata screen with just plain text anymore. Before a window is opened, it isrepresented by an icon. Double clicking this icon with the mouse pointer willopen the application window for the user to work in. Once the window has beenopened, all visible functions of the program will be performed within it. Atany time t he window can be shrunk back down into an icon, or made to fit theentire screen. For all essential purposes the user has complete control overhis windows. Since more than one window can be open at a time, the user canwork with more than one program. Being able to work with more than one programbrings out other special features of Windows 95. In a regular DOS system onlyone program can be open at a time. With previous versions of Windows more thanone program could be open, but they did not work well together. Since Windows95 is a 32 bit program, it manipulates memory addresses in a way that makes itlook as though your programs are running simultaneously. This makes it easierto share information between programs. For example (I run Windows 95) while Iam writing this paper using a word processor, I am logged onto the Internet andhave five different programs running. But unless the userwants to use DOS, there is no reason to even bother it. In Windows 95, DOS(version 7) has a few added goodies the some users enjoy. The biggest one isbeing able to open Windows applications by typing the program file name at theDOS prompt. Another one is being able to run more than one DOS application at atime. This does not work as well as with Windows applications, but it hassimilar effect. DOS can be used alone, outside of Windows 95, as before. Or itcan be opened in a window on the desktop like a normal Windows program, and canbe manipulated in size and style. The des ktop is where the icons and windows wediscussed before live. In older versions of Windows the icons lived in theProgram Manager. In Windows 95 they live under the Start button. Once the startbutton is clicked, it displays a pop up windows. Moving the mouse pointer inthe pop up windows gives you access to the different programs available. Iconscan also be moved onto the desktop itself, these are called shortcuts. Doubleclicking a shortcut will open the program the shortcut represents. Shortcutscan be linked to a program or a file, and can be moved to any position on thedesktop the user likes. You can also change the picture of the icon to any Icon picture you have available. The desktop can be fashioned in any way theuser likes. For example colors and background pictures can be changed. Even thecolors and thickness of the window outlines and menus can be changed. Whileprograms are open on the desktop, they are displayed on the Task Bar at thebottom of the screen as buttons. One optio n with the task bar is that it may bemoved to any of the four sides of the screen. The buttons have a picture andword identifier on them so the user knows which button is for which program. Clicking once on the button will switch to the program represented, which makesit easier to switch between more than one program. This just about gives theuser total control over his computer, which is what most users want. The ease of use is what makes Windows 95 appealing to the modern computer user. In time Microsoft will improve on the reliability of Windows 95, making iteasier to work with. Being the most complete and user friendly IBM compatibleoperating system on the market, I feel that Windows 95 will be the dominantoperating system for several years to come. Category: Technology

Underpaid Teachers in Ohio Essay Example For Students

Underpaid Teachers in Ohio Essay Underpaid Teachers in Ohio Essay High school teachers average salary varies across the world. The United States is said to be one of the richest countries in the world, yet our teachers are being paid one of the lowest amounts. The Education Intelligence Agency, author of the article Ohio Teacher Overcomes Unions Tolerance published an International Teacher Salary Report ranking the fifty states by how much the average salary exceeded per capita personal income. According to the Education Intelligence Agency Ohios percentage rate is only fifty- five point one percent. According to the Education Intelligence Agency the lowest state percentage is in South Dakota at twenty- three point six percent and the highest state percentage is Alaska at one hundred and one point five percent. We will write a custom essay on Underpaid Teachers in Ohio specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Teachers are a very important part of our society. Teachers jobs consist of more than just sitting behind a desk for nine months and having paid summers off. There are many extra tasks that teachers have that most people don not consider. Teachers in public schools work hard for a low salary and should be more appreciated; public school teachers shape the worlds young people, serve as role models, and work long hours. Ruth E. Sternberg is the reporter for the Columbus Ohio Dispatch Schools and has completed a survey on the issue of Ohios teachers salaries. According to Sternberg, the public high schools that have high salaries do not have enough money for new technologies. This is a disadvantage for the students. The students do not have the advantage of computers, digital cameras, and other new technologies that make learning more fun. The students who do not have these technologies may lose interest in learning. Sternberg also points out that higher salaries also causes businesses to decide not to open their stores in that district because of the higher taxes. The stores do not want to pay out more money than what they have to, even if it is for a good cause. I can understand the concern of the business owners, but they should think about where the money goes and how much it would benefit the public schools in that area. Sternberg discusses the loss of teachers that would be forced on the district if they raised the average teacher salary. This would mean that the class sizes would be larger and the teacher to student ratio would also rise. This would be a disadvantage for the students and the teachers. The teachers would have to work harder to give each student the one on one time that they need and the students would have to wait longer for help. This would waist valuable class time for the students who were waiting for help. All good things must have some bad side effects. There is not enough money in the school systems to have the best of both worlds. Our teachers shape our worlds young people into adults. They can teach students more than what the parents can because they have more time to spend with the students. Many parents work full time and do not have the time to teach their children how to be good adults. There are also some parents who do not know how to be good adults and can not teach their children how to be good adults. I have seen many teachers at my school that would do anything to help a troubled student. Teachers can give the students their undivided attention. The students have to share one teacher, but the teachers usually try to make time for the students on a one on one basis. All of my high school teachers meant a lot to me. I learned more than reading, writing, history, and mathematics from my teachers. There were many hard times in my life that I would have had a rough time getting through if my teachers would not have been there for me. .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77 , .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77 .postImageUrl , .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77 , .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77:hover , .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77:visited , .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77:active { border:0!important; } .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77:active , .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77 .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u6e4a2f0fac4c3f5647bc951b2a252c77:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: A Child Called It Essay My teachers were more than just educators, they are also my friends. A View of the Problems in Washington, D.C., Surrounding the Enforcement of Firearm Limitations

A View of the Problems in Washington, D.C., Surrounding the Enforcement of Firearm Limitations Challenges to local gun restrictions in Washington DC Introduction The district of Columbia law prohibits handgun possession by criminalizing carrying of unregistered firearm and barring the registration of handguns, the law gives a separate provision that an individual shall not carry an unlicensed firearm, however, the law permits the police chief to give 1year licenses, and it is a requirement for the residents to keep legally owned handguns dissembled and unloaded or bound by a trigger lock apparatus. The petitioner Heller, a special D.C police officer sought permission to register a firearm he wanted to keep at home, yet the District declined his application (Blocher, (2008). The petitioner filed this suit pursuing based on the Second Amendment grounds, to include Dc from implementing the ban on firearm registration, the licensing need at the moment bars possessing an unlicensed handgun at home, in addition to the trigger lock device as it disallows functional firearms use at home. The D.C circuit reversed the suit set aside by the District Cou rt holding the view that the Second Amendment gives a person protection to own handguns. More so, the circuit held that the city’s full ban on handguns, in addition to the city’s requisites that firearms held at home should always be dissembled or on trigger lock devices; denied an individual his right to defend himself/herself when in danger Majority opinion District of Columbia v. Heller (2007-2008) The Supreme Court held that the second amendment guarantees a person’s protection to own a firearm as long as the firearm is not related to use of unlawful deeds but for purposes of protection and self defense inside the home. According to the majority ruling delivered by Scalia J, the firearm and trigger-lock apparatus requirement (when applied to self-defense) violates the second amendment act. The entire ban on firearm possession at home by the District is tantamount to the illegalization of different class ownership of ‘arms’’ which Americans unilaterally choose for the legal purpose of self-protection. Under some of the normal scrutiny the court has used applications to enumerated constitutional rights, therefore the ban in the scenario where the value of legal defense of family, property, and self is paramount the ban would fail the constitutional rights agreed (Lee, 2009). Additionally, the need that for every legal firearm held at home the handgun must be dissembled or bound by trigger-lock device makes it absolutely impossible for citizens to use the lawfully held firearms for the primary lawful objective of self-defense and thus making the total ban unconstitutional. In this ruling the Supreme Court considered Heller’s oral acceptance that the District law is allowed when not capriciously or arbitrarily enforced, the bench assumes that a license shall meet his prayer for relief even though licensing need is never addressed. Therefore, assuming the petitioner is not barred from exercising the second amendment rights; the District should allow the petitioner to register his handgun and must provide Heller a license to carry within the home. Being aware of the challenge of firearm violence in the country, and taking seriously the prayers of those that believe the ban on handgun possession is a remedy. The constitution gives the city a range of tools for curbing the menace; this includes a number of measures regulating f irearms (Magarian,2009). A constitutional enshrined right certainly takes particular policy an option off the negotiating table. This option includes the total prohibition of handguns used and possessed for self-defense within the home. Indisputably a number is of the opinion that the second amendment is outdated in a community where the nation’s army is the pride of the nation, and was a very well-trained disciplined force give private security, and a society that gun violence is a menace. According to them, this is arguable; however, what is not arguable of course is this court making the second amendment defunct. Minority opinion District of Columbia v. Heller (2007-2008) The Supreme Court’s dissenting opinion holds that the ruling of giving a fresh constitutional right to possess and the usage of handguns for personal objectives defeats the foregone understanding, yet it provides an uphill task for future litigations seeking definitions for the scope of allowable procedures and regulations. Particularly, the dissenting judgment delivered by Stevens noted that there is no sign that the drafters of the amendment desired to include the common-law right of self –protection as an integral part of the constitution. The minority judge notes that the opinion announced by the court fails to find any new evidence giving support to the view that the amendment was meant congress power to minimize civilian use of weapons. Incapable to give any such findings, the announcement relies on an edgy and unimpressive understanding of the amendments context. With the assumption that majority of citizens are law steadfast, and given the reality that the desir e to protect oneself might suddenly emerge in number of locations other than within the home, the judge in his opinion fears that the city’s policy choice might as well be the first of unidentified number of dominoes to be removed off the table. Conclusion Even though the ruling, in this case, provides a short implication to the formulation of the second amendment, the court focuses at length on other four primary sources: Blackstone’s commentaries on England laws, the Seventeen century English Bill of rights, the post-civil war legislative history, and the post-enactment commentary on the second amendment. The above sources give the slight answer to the bigger question before the court, and thus, in any event, offer small support to the courts conclusion. The majority ruling thus expresses some elements of judicial restraint from the jury.

Impact of Oil Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

Impact of Oil - Assignment Example Moreover, during the same period there was increased demand for oil in numerous nations including China and India due to their increased industrialization (United States, Maloney, and Schumer, 2007). The subsequent instabilities in oil production and increase, in oil price per barrel of the 2000, s had no destructive effect on the United States’ Economy. Therefore, it is apparent that the current effects or instabilities on the oil prices have little effects on the United States’ economy, as it was the case in the 1970s and 1980s. The main reason towards these changed effects is that there has been a reduction on energy (oil and gas) spent in producing each dollar in the United States’ output. Additionally, there has been a shift in production techniques, that is, the current technologies only require a small amount of energy for production compared to the 1970s and 1980s technologies (United States, 1991). Economic experts estimate the current United States’ economy to be less than 33 percent dependent or sensitive to oil price fluctuation unlike over 55 percent less sensitivity in early 1980s and even more in the mid-1970s. (United States, Maloney, and Schumer, 2007) Finally, the Federal Government has since developed vigilant and adept monetary policies of handling inflationary
